Serve and Rest

So I read this bible plan the other day and it spoke really briefly about how in a nutshell we are designed to serve and worship God from our small corners and when we take it upon ourselves to do more than what we are called to do, it can burn us out really quickly. This made so much sense to me because this is so true. I have experienced this time and time again even in situations outside of the church.

I find myself being the peacemaker in most situations and carrying burdens that don’t belong to me. Now I’m not saying that I wasn’t called to be a peacemaker or to help solve people’s problems, but I do think I should get to a point where I don’t almost always feel obligated to help someone fix an issue that they are having to the point where it is causing a burnout inside of me. This is why I am always so careful about the things I decide to take on these days because a lot of times when you do say yes to every little thing that comes your way because you feel obligated to, you start to lose your passion in those things very quickly.

There are so many people in the world and so many people that can be used in some of these areas that you are spread thin in. I believe our focus should be more on connecting more people to the goodness of the Lord and allow them the space and opportunity to devote their time/efforts in their own way to help instead of feeling like we have to do everything ourselves. Sometimes when you are in a leadership role, there may be an individual waiting on their time to step up to the plate and serve a little more and lighten your load. Just don’t be afraid to call on God to send someone to help you. Yes he already knows this before you can even think to speak it, but there is nothing like a humble servant that isn’t afraid to call on the Lord in our times of need. What are you waiting on to call on him today? What are you depending on Jesus for to help on to lighten your load? Who can you inspire today, tomorrow, and so on to be a help mate to you on your quest to bring more people aboard to express God’s unconditional love for another?

““ Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.”“Put on my yoke, and learn from me. I’m gentle and humble. And you will find rest for yourselves. My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light. ””
